The One Thing To Remember When It All Feels Like Too Much

The One Thing To Remember When It All Feels Like Too Much

It’s been a record year of uncertainty, pain, anger, and loss. It feels like the whole world is stuck in the ‘upside down’ and none of us know how to get out of it. And now, we find ourselves bracing for a second wave of struggle as we anticipate what’s to come with Covid, the …

Plan Your Own Personal, Powerful Business Retreat

I totally dig it when other entrepreneurs take me behind the scenes of their business to share their personal experiences because I like knowing exactly how they did something, the quirky things that make them real and relatable, and the things they love and value–because all of these things help me to learn more about …

Dear Drama, We’re Through

We’ve all been there. Maybe it’s the painful moment when you realize that you just got dissed. Or, you receive an angry email rant from a client. Or someone you trust doesn’t follow through on a promise. Whatever the trigger, you quickly go from cool and collected to righteously pissed. Those are the exact moments when WTF?! feels …

It's Business. YOU-Style.

To the game players, pretenders of generosity & fake friends: We see you.

There is a rise in hidden agendas and manipulative marketing tactics in our online world. Game players. Pretenders of generosity. Fake friendships. We see it.  We feel it. We cringe at the pyramid-like schemes for affiliates. We see our peers promoting other people’s stuff with more gusto (and more bells and whistles) than they would …

Why Complaining, Thrashing and Doubting are Good Signs

A mother of 5 told me that in her experience, children act-up or act-out right before a major developmental milestone. I figured that after raising five children, this dedicated mama probably knew a thing or two about behavior and development. Over the years, this pattern has also been consistent for my own two little girls. …

What if you Declared a Winter Sabbatical? I am.

I spent a lot of years wandering the halls of Universities (including two back to back degrees) followed by a 5 year stint of employment at a large Canadian university. So, I know a little something about sabbaticals. It’s what tenured profs are allowed to do so they can go off and write their books …

One-Liners to Talk You Down from the Ledge of Chuck it/F#ck it

I frequently talk women down from the ledge of ‘screw this’. This past week I responded to emails with the subject lines: “SS/GS/CF” (short for Sh*t Show, Gong Show, Cluster F#ck) “On the Ledge” “Urgent” “Big Inner Critic Day” “Confession” “Paralyzed” “I’m so done with this” I love those emails. Not because my clients are …

About to launch something new? Watch out for these 3 sneaky lies

If you’re getting ready to launch something new in your business it can be a chaotic time of mixed emotions –highs and lows. Typically, our excitement about what’s possible is mixed with fear about what could go wrong. In an effort to protect ourselves from pain and disappointment, our inner critic can be very creative …

Grande Greve, Cape Breton 😍 Grande Greve, Cape Breton 😍
Yesterday, at 1:30pm our Dad: Joseph Robert Jones, Yesterday, at 1:30pm our Dad: Joseph Robert Jones, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Dad was also known as ‘Joey’, ‘Big Joe’ and ‘Grandpa Joe’ and was well loved by everyone who knew him. Always with a huge smile and a twinkle in his eye. He loved his 3 little “munchkins” more than life itself. He was an ever present father to Joey and I, always there for us in every way. My Dad had the best of friends and community anyone could ever ask for. There is a huge unfillable void in our hearts. 💕
Thank you to everyone sending texts, emails, and p Thank you to everyone sending texts, emails, and phone calls about our Dad. My brother Joe, Aunt Doreen, & Uncle Brian are together here in Cape Breton spending quality time with him and keeping him comfortable. He remains in hospital where they can give him the support he needs. So many of you have also sat bedside with people you love dearly so you also know how it can be deeply intimate, beautiful, and gutting all at once and you just need to take it moment by moment. Ivy and I were able to get out for a big, cold walk this afternoon and it did us good. The ocean air — although biting — felt like a healing balm. 💕
