Who I am

It’s lovely to meet you. I’m Jac.

When it comes to building a successful one-woman business, I don’t believe in
blue prints, formulas, or gurus.

But I do believe in sharing philosophies, frameworks, structures, and business processes when they’re layered with inner wisdom and intuition {yours and mine.}  I’ve studied business strategy under master coaches, business strategists, online experts, and brand editors and learned a lot from the successes and failures of my own business.  I enjoy teaching what I know, in a way that feels congruent and well-integrated for my clients.

My work is holistic.

I love to dive deep, yet stay centered.  At the core of what I do is an unwavering focus on my client and the grander vision she holds for her life and business. I lead her away from fragmenting her life, her work, and her desires and into an experience of wholeness.

Here’s a smidge about how I got here.

I started out as a generalist coach.  I really struggled with attracting enough clients to make a “grown-up” living.  I was doing everything right— networking, newsletters, sample sessions—but getting nowhere.  I started spending a lot of time comparing myself to my peers.  Why was this working for them and not me?  My inner critic took over.  Oh baby, there was drama.

There were times when I laid on the floor and pounded my fists.  Or sifted through job postings online while I cried my eyes out.

Like many women solopreneurs, I’ve done hard time in the swamp of doubt.

But in the end, it was these difficult challenges that taught me the most about myself and my business.  I’ve learned that solopreneurship is an amazing platform for self-actualization.

The way I see it,  there are two essential components to building a successful solopreneur business:

1. We need to pay close attention to our inner landscape of Resistance.

2. We need to learn the nuts and bolts of effective marketing.

Over the past 6 years, I’ve committed to learning everything I can about what makes solopreneur businesses work and I have developed incredible compassion for the journey of solopreneurship.  These days, I regularly transfer money from by business account into our family account.  I am deeply appreciative that I have a wait list for 1:1 clients and that my retreats fill quickly.

But what I’m most proud of is that I’ve committed to growing my business around my life.

I have a gorgeous list of what I call non-negotiables—parameters I set, and stick to.  Like being at the bus stop everyday to bring Sophie home.  Or having Fridays off for mommy-time with Emilie.  I love making a good, solid income doing the work I love in a way that allows me to be the mom I want to be.

And, I believe in this for you too.

My Credentials

I am a certified and credentialed professional coach and I’d love for you to read about my professional credentials here.  But, what feels even more important,  is that I have the intuitive edge it takes to connect with a client deeply enough so that real transformation can happen.  My approach is to integrate the powerful skills of co-active coaching with solid business acumen, which allows me to meet my client exactly where she is on her solopreneur journey.

It’s not always easy to let someone in – but if you’re connecting with what I’m saying here, you and I could be a great fit.

And, here’s a peek into my non-working life:

  • I love being a mom to two incredible little women-in-the-making, a Bernese Mountain Dog named “Guinness” and an 18 year old cat.
  • I’m married to Matt {one of those super smart engineer types, who’s also sweet and funny} and we’re raising our family in Fall River, Nova Scotia.
  • I spent several years learning Muay Thai {*real* kickboxing} and somehow think this makes me really tough. Especially after a beer or two.
  • I’m a bit like Monica Geller when it comes to cleaning my house.
  • I’ve created a tradition with my friends that when we dance; it has to be deliberately “ugly”.  Think Elaine from Seinfeld.
  • I have above normal anxiety when it comes to driving on winter roads.  I can also be one of those annoying backseat drivers. {I like to be in control, what can I say?}
  • I have a goal to travel through every inch of Scotland with Matt: pubs, castles, countryside.

So that’s me. I’d love to learn more about you.
