The One Thing To Remember When It All Feels Like Too Much

It’s been a record year of uncertainty, pain, anger, and loss. It feels like the whole world is stuck in the ‘upside down’ and none of us know how to get out of it. And now, we find ourselves bracing for a second wave of struggle as we anticipate what’s to come with Covid, the …

Choosing to stand in the Tragic Gap

Have you ever found yourself in the kind of dilemma where ‘staying’ would feel like a betrayal of integrity, settling, or being complicit — and ‘leaving’ would mean avoiding conflict, giving up, or running away? Ugh. I’m raising my own hand here. My story begins last October, when I began an advanced 10-month leadership program …

A Call for Your Bold Leadership

In January 2017, I wrote a call to action to my community in response to the results of the US election: We must solidify what we stand for, take action on what is within our grasp, and continue to work towards justice. We must find a way to participate in making this world a better, …

Meeting the Good & the Bad

It’s still early in the morning here – the kids have gone off to school, the coffee is hot, and I’m tapping away on my laptop under a cozy duvet, made warmer still by the dog-weight of Guinness, who is sound asleep beside me. I feel gratitude. It’s been a record year for my business. …

STAND UP TO 2017 RESOURCE

It is critical that despite our misgivings about the current political landscape that we find a way to channel our energy and realign with what we value. We must prepare our minds and our hearts for the long game ahead. We must solidify what we stand for, take action on what is within our grasp, …

5 Essential Questions to Help You Face 2017: My Alt-Inauguration Gift to You!

As we begin this New Year, many of us are still reeling from the uncertainty and instability in our political landscapes. Although I’m a Canadian, the aftermath of the US election has hit close to home. For most of November and December, I found myself drifting between two extreme reactions. I’d either consume every piece …

Why We Keep Comparing and Despairing

In my coaching business, I often hear: “I know I shouldn’t compare myself to anyone else, but even when I try really hard, I still find myself doing it.” This is usually followed by self-judgment, even shame, which sounds like: “After all these years of personal growth I can’t believe I still feel “less than” …

If I could take you for coffee

Most of my work is done over Skype which means I rarely get to meet my amazing clients or the wonderful women who follow my work in-person. Chatting over a screen is practical but certainly not as fun as it would be to meet up on a Sunday morning at my favourite coffee shop and …

When Healers Don’t Walk Their Talk

Last year I met Jen Berlingo, a licensed counselor and art therapist, who introduced me to a brand new way of thinking about my self-care. It was one of those moments of ‘when the student is ready, the teacher will appear’. The magic was that Jen hired me to help her create and launch a new …

Grande Greve, Cape Breton 😍 Grande Greve, Cape Breton 😍
Yesterday, at 1:30pm our Dad: Joseph Robert Jones, Yesterday, at 1:30pm our Dad: Joseph Robert Jones, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Dad was also known as ‘Joey’, ‘Big Joe’ and ‘Grandpa Joe’ and was well loved by everyone who knew him. Always with a huge smile and a twinkle in his eye. He loved his 3 little “munchkins” more than life itself. He was an ever present father to Joey and I, always there for us in every way. My Dad had the best of friends and community anyone could ever ask for. There is a huge unfillable void in our hearts. 💕
Thank you to everyone sending texts, emails, and p Thank you to everyone sending texts, emails, and phone calls about our Dad. My brother Joe, Aunt Doreen, & Uncle Brian are together here in Cape Breton spending quality time with him and keeping him comfortable. He remains in hospital where they can give him the support he needs. So many of you have also sat bedside with people you love dearly so you also know how it can be deeply intimate, beautiful, and gutting all at once and you just need to take it moment by moment. Ivy and I were able to get out for a big, cold walk this afternoon and it did us good. The ocean air — although biting — felt like a healing balm. 💕
